TC set to receive donations for grants, scholarships

Several local entities are giving money to Texarkana College this week for grants and scholarships.

JCM Industries will present a check for $10,000 today to create the James C. Morriss Welding Scholarship. The presentation will be held at 2 p.m. in the Conference Room at JCM Industries, 200 Old Boston Road, Nash, Texas.

On Friday, Texas Workforce Commissioner Julian Alvarez will present TC and McLarty Ford with a $141,231 Job-Training Grant from the Texas Workforce Commission. The presentation will be held at 11 a.m. in the Patman Room of the Truman Arnold Student Center, 2500 N. Robison Road, Texarkana, Texas. The grant will be used to provide customized training to 75 new and incumbent workers with a focus on automotive skills.

After the ceremony, McLarty Ford owners Todd and Michelle Shores will present $25,000 to the TC Foundation to establish the McLarty Ford Endowed Scholarship Fund to support TC's Presidential Scholarship program.
