Main Street Texarkana's board gets new president

Main Street Texarkana selected a new board president during its August meeting.
Larry White, a two-year member of the Main Street Texarkana board and owner of JDW Contracting Group, was chosen to replace Lee Medley, who stepped down for personal reasons.
Among other business, planning has begun for Dine On The Line, which will take place Oct. 7. Main Street Texarkana has begun accepting sponsors for this event.
The Main Street board is preparing its funding requests from the Arkansas-side Advertising and Promotions Commission. The due date is the end of this month.
The Texas Facade Grant Loan program has received an $8,000 funding boost for businesses interested in receiving assistance in improving the exteriors of their buildings.
The Courthouse Square Project, which aims to improve the area around the downtown courthouse, has gone out for bids. The city of Texarkana, Texas has set aside funds its budget for the project. The site is a popular photography location.
The 1894 Second Saturday Trade Days is slated for Saturday at 105 Olive St. Events include a World Champion Iced Tea Contest.
