A suspect has been arrested in the Aug. 7 robbery of The Bottle Mart at 126 East St.
Billy Smith, 51, was arrested Tuesday by Texarkana, Ark., Police Officer Chris Estes after he confessed to robbing and physically assaulting employee Mark Clemenz, who was counting money around 4 p.m.
According to a police spokeswoman, Smith then ran to a 2007 Ford Edge parked in the driveway and headed north on East Street. A witness to the attack followed Smith to the 500 block of East Third Street, where he flagged down Estes.
