Police identify suspect through distinctive pants bought prior to robbery

A local man was arrested Saturday in the July 29 robbery of a Texarkana E-Z Mart after police detectives identified him by his "uniquely fashioned pants" and a trip to Walmart, said Kristi Bennett, police spokeswoman.
About 1:45 a.m. July 29, a man wearing a mask and distinctive pants reportedly robbed the convenience store at 4524 N. State Line Ave. at gunpoint.
"Other than video and the physical description of the robber, detectives had very few leads to go on. Because the pants were so unique, Lt. (Jason) Shores followed through with nothing more than a hunch" that the suspect may have visited Walmart before or after the robbery, Bennett said.
While searching through the Walmart surveillance video, Shores spotted the suspect and his pants entering the store about 40 minutes before the E-Z Mart robbery, Bennett said. Police identified the man and another man who was with him as Lamarcus Henderson, 19, and Nelson Ikegulu, 20. Ikegulu was found and interviewed, and a warrant was issued for Henderson's arrest.
Henderson was found Saturday at a home on West 21st Street. He noticed the officers and ran across North State Line into Arkansas. Henderson was arrested after a short foot chase and confessed to the robbery in an interview with Detective Romeo Cross and Sgt. Zach White.
An arrest warrant for aggravated robbery was issued for Ikelgulu.
