Sex offender faces prison over unreported social media accounts

Miller County prosecutors have formally charged a registered sex offender accused of failing to disclose email and social media accounts to his probation officer and law enforcement.
Michael "Andrew" MacEntee, 30, was convicted of internet stalking of a child in March 2013 in Miller County. He was sentenced to a 10-year term of probation as part of a plea bargain and ordered to register as a sex offender. MacEntee was living in Texarkana, Ark., when he began chatting online in March 2011 with a deputy from a sheriff's office in Missouri whom he believed to be a 14-year-old girl, according to court records.
Sex offender registration requirements have been problematic for MacEntee in the past, court records show.
MacEntee was sentenced to a three-year term of probation in Saline County, Ark., in March 2016 for failing to report a change of address and register as a sex offender.
Both the Saline County and Miller County probations are still active, according to court records.
On July 20, officers with the U.S. Marshals Service, Arkansas Community Corrections Probation and Parole Department, Arkansas State Police and Texarkana, Texas, police conducted a sex offender compliance check with MacEntee at his home, according to a probable cause affidavit. As part of his registration requirements, MacEntee is required to report all email and social media accounts. However, the officers allegedly discovered an unreported email account and a start-up web design business during a search of MacEntee's computer and cellphone.
Officers also allegedly discovered an unreported Instagram account and an unreported KIK account. Both applications can be used to chat and send messages and photos.
MacEntee had previously registered his Facebook account and the email account associated with it but allegedly had failed to inform officials of the existence of his additional email and social media accounts.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Kristian Robertson signed off this week on formal charges of violating sex offender registration requirements. MacEntee faces three to 10 years in prison if convicted.
MacEntee is currently free on a $10,000 bail bond. He is scheduled to appear in court next week.
