Annette Fisher, 54, stood before 5th District Judge Bill Miller with Mount Pleasant, Texas, lawyer Mark Lesher for a pretrial hearing. Miller scheduled the case for additional pretrial hearings in October and November. Fisher is scheduled for a January jury trial.

Fisher has been in custody since July 22, 2015, the day she allegedly gunned down Russell Scott Cain in the parking lot of Pete Mankins Used Car Center on Summerhill Road in Texarkana, Texas, where he was working. Cain and Fisher's daughter had divorced several months before, and Cain was awarded custody of the couple's two young children.

Fisher allegedly brought Cain lunch from a local deli before killing him.
