TTPD investigating two overnight shootings

Texarkana, Texas, police are investigating two shootings that occurred Sunday night near the 1700 block of Bowie Street.

A 14-year-old boy was shot about 11:45 p.m. as he was walking down the street, said Shawn Vaughn, spokesman for TTPD. Vaughn said the victim told police he was shot in the thigh by an unknown and unseen person. He was taken to Wadley Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The second victim was an 18-year-old man who suffered a single gunshot wound to his arm. He arrived at CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital by private vehicle about an hour after he was shot. He also said that he was walking in the area and was shot by an unknown and unseen person.

"The circumstances of exactly what happened are unclear, and it is unknown if the two victims were together when they were shot," Vaughn said.

Both victims were treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.
