Widow of fallen soldier to speak at Texarkana College

A widow of an Arkansas National Guard soldier who was killed in 2007 during the Iraq War will speak at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at Texarkana College.

Wendy Taylor recently released a book titled "Undefeated: A War Widow's Story of Faith and Survival," which details her journey through dealing with the death of her husband, Maj. Michael Taylor. He was one of 11 soldiers who died on Jan. 20, 2007, in a Black Hawk helicopter crash.

The Rev. James West of St. Edward's Catholic Church was a priest at the couple's church in North Little Rock. Wright said Wendy Taylor was a friend of his and that he remembers Michael Taylor's photo on the cover of Newsweek following his death along with 11 other soldiers.

"She has written a book on her experiences of dealing with death and how she has been able to survive that awful tragedy," Wright said.

The event will be held in the Great Room of the Truman Arnold Center. It is is co-sponsored by the Bowie County Republican Political Action PAC.
