Texarkana College Board of Trustees will consider contracts for an annex to the workforce building during its regular meeting Monday.

The new, $1.2 million addition was proposed during the October board meeting as part of the college's capital improvement plan and will allow for expansion of the technical curriculum. A portion of the programs are housed in a building on Summerhill Road owned by Texarkana Independent School District, which has indicated it now needs that space and the TC programs will be moved.

"There's really no place on the campus for that to take place, and it's a good opportunity to give the proper amount of room and space for our industrial maintenance (program)," TC President James Henry Russell said in October.

He added that making the move will give them room to remodel the old building and possibly offer new, entry-level workforce programs in the future.

Board members will also consider an extension of Russell's contract through December 2022; a board member to serve on the Bowie Central Appraisal District Board of Directors; and the 2016-17 audit by Thomas and Thomas.

The meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the Patman Room of the Truman Arnold Center, 2500 N. Robison Road, Texarkana, Texas.
