Teen arrested in Pizza Hut robbery on Arkansas side

A 17-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the Jan. 4 aggravated robbery at Pizza Hut in the 3700 block of North State Line Avenue, according to the Texarkana, Ark., Police Department.

The teen was arrested by TAPD from a detention center in Central Arkansas and charged with aggravated robbery.

"He was in custody prior to TAPD arrest for unrelated robbery charges. Currently the investigation continues, and more arrests are expected," said Cpl. Kristi Bennett, TAPD spokeswoman.

At 9:45 p.m. Jan. 4, Arkansas-side police were called to a robbery at Pizza Hut on North State Line. Investigation revealed two suspects had come in and forced all occupants at gunpoint to the back and inside a walk-in freezer, police said. The suspects then ordered an employee to give them money from the register.

During the incident, the employee was struck several times by the suspects, who fled the property with an undisclosed amount of cash, Bennett said in a press release.

The victim was taken by ambulance to CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System for treatment.

About 10:15 p.m. the same night, Hope, Ark., Police Department was called about a robbery at the Sonic Drive-in. Detectives there said two suspects with similar descriptions entered the business while armed and demanded money from the employees.

The incidents are believed to be related, Bennett said.
