Black History Parade set for Saturday in downtown Texarkana

The Twin Black History Association will hold its 26th annual Black History Month Parade at noon Saturday in downtown Texarkana.

The theme for this year's parade is "Unity in the Community Matters." The procession will include local clubs, civic groups, school districts, churches, businesses and individuals. The parade itself will include floats, marching bands, antique cars, motorcycles, all terrain vehicles, horses and individual walkers.

This year, former Texarkana, Texas, human resources director LeShon D. Ross will serve as the parade's Grand Marshal. Ross served with the Texas side from 1988 to 2001, and has since advanced her career to becoming the deputy city manager for Plano, Texas.
