Texarkana, Ark., Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old boy that occurred over the weekend.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at 2 p.m. Saturday at a residence on East 50th Street, said Officer Kristi Bennett, TAPD spokeswoman.
Upon arrival, officers found a 12-year-old male had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Other children and adults were at the residence at the time of the shooting, Bennett said.
The incident remains under investigation.
"The criminal investigation division is continuing an investigation into the cause of the shooting. It has not been ruled one way or the other," Bennett said.
Information was not immediately available on what type of gun it was or who the gun belonged to.
