Dillard's in Central Mall has begun the expansion it announced in September 2016. The project is meant to join the main store in Central Mall to its annex on the other side.

"The construction is in the early stages," said Julie Johnson Bull, director of public relations for Dillard's Inc. "We expect to have the store open in time for the holiday season."

One of the things this redesign will do is incorporate the company's latest advances in store design, with additional capacity featuring a premium lineup of brands specifically tailored to the fashion preferences of Texarkana-area customers.

"We expect this exciting project will have a transformative effect on Central Mall," said Gregory Greenfield, president of Gregory Greenfield and Associates Ltd., an Atlanta-based retail investment and advisory firm and adviser to the mall's owner. "We are excited to expand our operations at Central Mall to bring our signature style and exceptional service to even more shoppers. This renovation underscores our commitment to remain the premium shopping destination in the Texarkana trade area for many years to come."

"Dillard's longstanding history in the Texarkana market dates back to 1949 when our founder, William Dillard, purchased Wooten's, Texarkana's downtown department store. We have enjoyed successful operations at Central Mall for many years," said Chris Johnson, senior vice president for Dillard's.

The Little Rock-based company ranks among the nation's largest fashion retailers, with annual sales exceeding $6.5 billion. The company operates 272 Dillard's stores and 22 clearance centers spanning 29 states, plus an online store, dillards.com.
