Texarkana College Board of Trustees will meet today to consider demolishing the TC College Annex building at 1201 Carroll Ave. and 2501 College Drive.

The building, which was a hospital at one time, has served several purposes for the college, including office space, storage and a dormitory.

It hasn't been used for several years, as TC has been working to reduce costs.

Trustees will consider a proposal from Stan Excavating to level and reseed the property to create a green space for soccer fields and recreation. The property would be deeded to the company at no cost while the work is being completed, then it would be donated back to the college once the work is done.

The board will also consider approving up to $800,000 for heating and air systems in the Humanities Building. Trustees approved $1.2 million for the project during the January meeting, and if approved, the 2017-18 budget would be amended to reflect the change.

The meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the Patman Room at Truman Arnold Student Center, 2500 N. Robison Road, Texarkana, Texas.
