Several events are scheduled this weekend to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., including a prayer breakfast, youth summit, gala and parade.

The 25th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Prayer Breakfast, sponsored by the Ozan-Inghram Iron Mountain Neighborhood Development Corp.'s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend Committee, will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall of Lonoke Baptist Church, 1841 Lonoke Ave., Texarkana, Ark. Tickets are an $8 donation.

Also on Saturday, the 2017 MLK Youth Summit "Purpose Driven: The Next Generation to Lead the Nation" will be held from from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Texarkana College. Admission is free, but space is limited.

The 12th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Gala will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Texarkana Convention Center, 2910 S. Cowhorn Creek Loop, Texarkana, Texas. Tickets are a $60 donation, $80 for a reserved table of eight and $600 for a reserved table of 10.

Bridging the Gaps of Arkansas is sponsoring the second annual MLK Parade on Jan. 16. Themed "Honoring the Dream," it will begin at 11:30 a.m., with viewing area at the Front Street Plaza stage. The parade route will cover slightly more than a mile and will go from Broad Street to Front Street Plaza, then right on Olive Street to North State Line Avenue. It then turns right onto East Fourth Street and ends at Miller County Courthouse.
