Additional training for early childhood professionals in 3-county area available

Early childhood professionals can receive additional training from the University of Arkansas Extension Service in Miller, Little River and Hempstead counties.

"If you are an early childhood professional and want to learn more about caring for young children, you may be interested in 'The Best Care.' Sometimes it is difficult to find appropriate classes close to home and affordable. 

The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, in partnership with the Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Association, is offering training for early childhood professionals. Classes are offered free of charge and is verified training through the Traveling Arkansas' Professional Pathways and supports the 'Better Beginnings Program,'" Miller County Extension Service Agent Carla Hadley said.

About 10 hours of lessons will be provided in a classroom setting.

The 2017 "Best Care" topics include:

  • Two Bite Club
  • Grow It, Try It, Like It Part 1-2
  • Active Play
  • Child Care Prepared: Disaster Preparedness
  • Classroom Transitions
  • Let's SingDo, Re, Mi!
  • Celebrating Cultures: Activities and Resources for the Multicultural Classroom
  • Infant and Toddler Literacy; Effective Communication Skills
