Texarkana, Ark., School Board members discussed the timeline for appointing the vacant Zone 6 position during a brief regular board meeting Tuesday.

The board met at the Education Center on Jefferson Avenue.

Former Zone 6 board member Carol Dalby resigned from the board Jan. 9 because she was elected to serve as an Arkansas state representative in District 1. She will replace former state Rep. Prissy Hickerson.

Superintendent Becky Kesler said January 25 will be the deadline for applications. The board will meet to review the applications on Jan.30 and hopefully have a new member appointed by Feb. 7.

Applications will be available on the school website and may be picked up at the front desk in the Education Center.

In other activity, the board was recognized for its hard work. January is school board recognition month.

"I don't think people realize how many hours of work you put in," Kesler said.

Board member Laney Harris was recognized as the outstanding board member for hours of training he has received.

Also at the meeting, board members saw presentations from the Trice Elementary Robotics Team and the Trice Elementary Broadcasting Club.
