Pro-regime demonstrators gather Monday in Damascus, Syria. The minister of the economy called newly approved Arab League sanctions “a dangerous precedent” that will harm ordinary people more than the regime.

Michael Moore, 26, pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in September in the Nov. 21, 2015, death of 2-year-old KaDerious King. The young boy was initially thought to have died of choking, but an autopsy allegedly revealed the child died of blunt-force trauma, according to a probable-cause affidavit used to create the following account.

Investigators believe Moore is the only person who had access to the boy when he was injured at the home where he lived with his mother in the 1000 block of Waterall Street in Texarkana, Texas. According to the affidavit, KaDerious suffered, "numerous hemorrhages and contusions on the head and trunk."

The boy was rushed to an area hospital the night of his death, where he was later pronounced dead. Moore is represented by First Assistant Public Defender Will Williams. First Assistant District Attorney Michael Shepherd and Assistant District Attorney Katie Carter are prosecuting.

At Tuesday's hearing, 202nd District Judge John Tidwell set the case for jury selection June 19 at the Bowie County courthouse in New Boston, Texas.
