Texarkana teen dies in Smart car rollover

A Texarkana, Texas, teen was killed early Friday in a one-vehicle accident on St. Michael Drive.

Houston Hart, 17, of Texarkana, Texas, died at the scene of the accident, according to a Texarkana, Texas Police Department report.

The crash happened at 2:15 a.m. Friday in the 1900 block of St. Michael Drive, said Sgt. Geoff Lewis, police spokesman.

Investigators were able to determine a 2013 Smart car was traveling west on St. Michael Drive near Summerhill Road. According to the passenger in the vehicle, Breanna McCarley, 18, Hart realized he was going to miss an exit and turned the vehicle hard to the right. Investigators believe Hart's vehicle was traveling too fast to make the turn and went into a skid. The vehicle then struck a curb and rolled over.

Hart wasn't wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene. McCarley was wearing a seat belt and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
