Applications for energy assistance in Arkansas available starting Monday

The Southwest Arkansas Development Council Inc. Home Energy Assistance Program will begin accepting applications Monday for the Summer Cooling Program. Applications will be accepted for regular and crisis intervention help with electric bills only.

Information needed includes identification of the person making application, Social Security numbers for all members of the household and proof of household income for all members 18 and older for the month before application. A current gas and electric bill must be provided if a home has both energy sources.

Applicants must apply in the county they reside in. Applications will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis while funds are available or until the program closes.

The schedule and locations are:

  • For Miller County residents, applications will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday and 1o a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Life House Outreach Ministry, 915 East St., Texarkana, Ark.
  • For Little River County residents, applications will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Community Freewill Baptist Church, 791 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd., Ashdown, Ark.
  • For Lafayette County residents, applications will be accepted from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Stamps Senior Center, 228 Church St., Stamps, Ark.
  • For Hempstead County residents, applications will be accepted from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hempstead County Senior Center, 104 S. Main St., Hope, Ark.
  • For Howard County residents, applications will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Legion Hut Building, 301 W. Dodson St., Nashville, Ark.
  • For Nevada County residents, applications will be accepted from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Hamilton Blakely Senior Center, 419 E. Main St., Prescott, Ark.
  • For Sevier County residents, applications will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the De Queen Church of Nazarene, 129 W. Locke Ave., De Queen, Ark.
