An 11-year-old boy who died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday was hit by a 19-year-old friend of the family, police said Thursday.
The accident happened at 4:33 p.m. in the 6700 block of University Avenue, said Sgt. Geoff Lewis, spokesman for TTPD.
The investigation determined a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by a 19- year- old man of Texarkana, Texas, was traveling on University Avenue. The driver was a friend of the family and was returning an 18-year-old family member to the home. The driver turned into the residence and didn't see the 11-year-old boy sitting on a skateboard in the driveway. The truck ran over the 11-year-old before coming to a stop. The boy was transported to a local hospital, but later died as a result of his injuries.
No charges are pending against the driver and no citations were issued.
