CHRISTUS clinic welcomes new surgeon

Dr. Thomas Hoang, M.D., cardiovascular thoracic surgeon, has joined the staff of CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic, according to Suman Sinha, market medical director for the CHRISTUS Trinity system in Texarkana.

"He comes to us from the Dallas-Plano-Richardson area, where he has been widely acclaimed as a leading cardiothoracic surgeon for several years," Sinha said.

A graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Hoang completed his general surgery internship and residency at Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, as well as a series of fellowships.

He is board certified in cardiothoracic surgery and general surgery and certified in the da Vinci robotic surgical system.

Initially leaning toward internal medicine as his specialty, Hoang changed his focus when he met Dr. Michael DeBakery, the first surgeon to perform coronary bypass surgery.

"To this day, what I do is very rewarding. It's hard work, but to have the opportunity to save lives and make an impact on someone's life is a privilege. In Texarkana, I have the opportunity to join outstanding health care systems (CHRISTUS Trinity Clinics and CHRISTUS St. Michael) and to provide care in a great community," Hoang said.
