Though a masked protester prompted several passers-by along Richmond Road to call 911 Tuesday, he was within his right to peacefully protest, said Texarkana, Texas, Police Spokesman Shawn Vaughn.
"He said he is protesting against child molesters and a divided America," Vaughn said. The man, who wore a Guy Fawkes mask and wished to remain anonymous, held up signs at Richmond Road and Interstate 30.
"If he is not impeding traffic or bothering anyone, there is not a problem," Vaughn said.
Some of the signs had "United We Stand" and "You save your child, report a [pedophile]" written on them.
The stylized Guy Fawkes mask, with a mustache and pointed beard, has become popular among protesters since the 2006 release of the film "V for Vendetta," a dystopian political thriller based on a 1988 comics series.
