Chances for severe weather from Cindy have decreased

Tropical Depression Cindy will be moving a little bit east of Texarkana, decreasing rain chances to less than two inches.

The storm made landfall at 4 a.m. Thursday and decreased in intensity to a tropical depression, according to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, La. Cindy is not producing the amount of rain it was originally expected to, according to NWS.

Rain was expected to increase in Texarkana late Thursday into early Friday. Chances for severe weather has decreased but there could still be isolated thunderstorms. There could be still winds between 10 and 20 mph according to NWS.

Rainfall will gradually taper off today as the remnants of Cindy shift to the east.

However, a cold front shifting south will keep the chance of showers and thunderstorms in the weekend forecast.

There is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today. A 20 percent chance is expected Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures should be cooler with highs in the lower 80s and lows in the upper 60s.
