Small Business Center wins award

The Northeast Texas Small Business Development Center in Mount Pleasant has been selected to receive the 2017 SBDC of the Year Award, the North Texas SBDC Network announced.

The award is given based on stellar program performance through client successes and economic development contributing to job creation and retention and revenue growth on behalf of small businesses. This is accomplished through the center's advising services and training assistance that directly affect small businesses.

During fiscal year 2015-16, Northeast Texas SBDC assisted clients in Bowie, Camp, Cass, Franklin, Morris and Titus counties get $7.5 million in commercial loans, create 124 jobs and start 22 businesses.

The Northeast Texas SBDC is hosted by Northeast Texas Community College, Mount Pleasant, and Texarkana
College.

Recipients will be honored May 4 during National Small Business Week at the U.S. Small Business Administration's Small Business Recognition Program in Arlington, Texas.
