Texas-side sixth-graders qualify for state math, science competition

Eight Texas Middle School sixth-graders have qualified for the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association state competition April 22 in San Antonio.

Students had to meet minimum qualifying scores in Number Sense, Calculator, General Math and Science during qualifying rounds held in February and March.

Moving forward at the state level are John Thomas Borowitz, Mason Franklin, Joe Haynes-Stewart, Said Hernandez, Olivia Huckabee, Braden McKinnon, Lawton Nichols and Alyssa Smith.

Formed in 1981, TMSCA is an organization formed by Texas math and science teachers to promote excellence in math and science through competition.
