Man accused of stealing about $80 from vending machines

A suspect who allegedly stole money from vending machines recently in a De Queen, Ark., laundromat, was described as a thin man who allegedly admitted he needed money to buy food.

The man, identified as Cameron Stinnett, 24, of De Queen was arrested while attempting to break into a house.

While he was being questioned about the theft of money in the laundromat, Stinnett said he stole the money because he needed food.

The De Queen police report said the business owner, Gabriel Figueroa, provided police with a copy of the surveillance video showing a man breaking into the vending machines.

Figueroa said about $80 was stolen from the machines, and estimated $1,100 in damage to the vending machines.

Officers were dispatched to a residence on East Heynecker Street, where a male suspect was attempting to break in. The suspect was described as a man wearing a red ball cap with a red shirt with white stripes.

Sevier County sheriff's Deputy Wendell Randall located a man matching the description. Randall picked the suspect up and transported him to the De Queen police station, where he was questioned about the attempted break-in and the laundromat thefts.

Stinnett was charged with theft of property and breaking or entering.
