Police continue to search for a Texarkana man who failed to show for jury selection in his theft case Tuesday at Bowie County Courthouse in New Boston, Texas.

Judge John Tidwell of the 202nd District dismissed the jury when it became clear Demontrous Witcher was not going to appear. Tidwell then issued a warrant for Witch-er's arrest.

Assist-ant District Attorney Katie Carter said investigators are following leads and hope to have Witcher in custody soon.

Witcher has multiple pending theft charges and a pending charge of prohibited item in a correctional facility, according to court records. He was scheduled for trial earlier this week on a felony theft charge in an alleged shoplifting Feb. 22, 2016, at Ulta Beauty store in Texarkana, Texas.

Witcher allegedly was dressed in women's clothes when he secreted more than $1,000 in perfume in his purse. He was identified as a suspect after a still shot of the shoplifter taken from video surveillance was published on social media.

Witcher allegedly admitted he was the person in the photo but denied he was shoplifting during a March 3, 2016, interview with police concerning a different matter.

If convicted, Witcher faces six months to two years in a state jail. For failing to appear for his trial, he faces the possibility of two to 10 years in prison.

Anyone with information concerning Witcher's whereabouts is asked to call Texarkana Crime Stoppers at 903-793-STOP, or to call 911.
