IASIS Healthcare, the parent company of Wadley Regional Medical Center, has signed a definitive agreement to merge with Steward Health Care.
The merger will make Steward the largest privately owned for-profit hospital operator in the U.S., with 36 hospitals in 10 states-including six in Texas.
The merger is expected to close the third calendar quarter of 2017 and is subject to customary regulatory approvals, terms and conditions. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
