FCI inmates face contraband charges

Separate indictments handed down by a federal grand jury last week accuse four inmates at the Federal Correctional Institution in Texarkana, Texas, of possessing contraband in prison.

Three men are accused of possessing forms of synthetic marijuana in the prison while the fourth is accused of possessing a cellphone.

Salvador Tamayo, 26, faces up to another year in federal prison, a fine up to $100,000 or both if found guilty of possessing an Alcatel cellphone April 6 while an inmate at FCI Texarkana. Tamayo's current projected release date is May 17, 2026, according to the Bureau of Prisons website.

George Howard, 39, faces up to 10 more years in federal prison, a fine up to $250,000, or both if convicted of possessing FUB-AMB, a form of synthetic marijuana, Jan. 11 while an inmate in FCI Texarkana. Howard's current projected release date is Nov. 24, 2027, according to the BOP website.

Ervin Boyce, 39, is accused of possessing FUB-AMB while an inmate at Texarkana FCI Jan. 8. He faces up to 10 additional years, a fine up to $250,000, or both, if found guilty. Boyce's current projected release date is Jan. 25, 2020, according tothe BOP website.

Andy Schuman, 35, is accused of possessing FUB-AMB and ADB-Chiminaca, another drug, while an inmate in the prison Dec. 18. He faces up to 10 additional years, a fine up to $250,000, or both. Schuman's current projected release date is June 5, 2019, according to the BOP website.

All four men are scheduled to appear for arraignment June 1 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Caroline Craven in the Texarkana Division of the Eastern District of Texas. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Ross is prosecuting.
