Cavender's has been named the 2017 Retailer of the Year by The Headwear Association.
The award was presented April 27 at the 109th annual Headware Association Dinner and Fashion Show at Central Park Boathouse in New York. Ricky Bolin, general manager of Hatco, presented the award to Clay Cavender.
"While the rest of the retail world is closing stores, these guys keep operating them," Bolin said.
"It is a big honor to receive this award. We've been in business for 52 years, not 102 like some of you," Cavender said in his acceptance speech.
Cavender's carries cowboy hats by Resistol, Steson, Milano, Justin, Dorfman Pacific and others.
Cavender's Boot City in Texarkana is at 3901 Mall Drive.
