Jason Edward Dillinger, 38, is accused of pointing a gun at a female clerk about 1 a.m. March 10 at an Exxon convenience store in the 3700 block of New Boston Road in Texarkana, Texas, according to a probable cause affidavit used to create the following account.

Dillinger allegedly demanded that the clerk hand over cash from the register and all $50 and $20 scratch-off lottery tickets.

Investigators were able to identify Dillinger as a suspect using video surveillance. A man observed speaking to Dillinger in the store's parking lot as Dillinger sat in a car was located and able to identify Dillinger, the affidavit states.

Dillinger was formally charged with aggravated robbery Thursday and faces five to 99 years in prison if convicted. The grand jury also indicted Dillinger on a charge of theft of a firearm.

Dillinger is accused of stealing guns and other items from a home in DeKalb, Texas, about a month before the convenience store holdup, according to a probable cause affidavit. The homeowner reported that he allowed Dillinger and a female friend to spend the night at his home in February.

The homeowner said he discovered a number of things missing from his house when he returned from work, including a rifle, a television, a safe and more than $500 in cash.

Theft of a firearm is punishable by six months to two years in a state jail.

Dillinger's case has been assigned to 102nd District Judge Bobby Lockhart. Dillinger is expected to appear for arraignment in June.
