Family and friends of Anthony Carmeli are starting a scholarship in his name for a graduate of Arkansas High School.

"Anthony really enjoyed his college years and we want to help another student go to college," his wife, Amy Carmeli ,said Tuesday.

Texarkana, Texas, Police Investigators believe a body found Monday morning in Swampoodle Creek is that of Anthony Carmeli, 42, who went missing Sept. 11. The body has been sent to Dallas for an autopsy.

Carmeli walked away from his children's soccer practice Sept. 11 around the 1500 block of Pine Street after reportedly asking another parent to watch his children while he "took care of something."

Anthony Carmeli graduated Arkansas High in 1993. He played tennis, football and basketball.

Contributions to the scholarship can be made to Dowd and Company, an accounting firm on Arkansas Boulevard.

Amy Carmeli wants to thank everyone who helped search for her husband, especially the Texarkana, Texas and Texarkana, Ark., Police Departments for working so hard on the case.

"We appreciate everything they have done," she said.

"A lot of people helped out. The boys and I are very thankful. We are hanging in there. We have a family and "framily," in our group of friends," she said.

Since he has been missing, many of Anthony Carmeli's friends started a facebook group called "Big A's Army."

"Right now we are beyond devastated and still somewhat in shock by this outcome," friend Mary Emma Dundee wrote Tuesday.
