Aldermen to be sworn in after certification

RED LICK, Texas-Red Lick officials agreed Thursday to table action on swearing in two city aldermen until the votes for each can be certified.

Place 1 Alderman Lila Murray and Place 5 council member Joe William won their positions in Tuesday's election, but the Bowie County Commissioners Court will have to canvass the votes when it meets Monday before both council members can be sworn in.

In other business, aldermen proclaimed Dec. 15 as Nick Blain Day in honor of the Red Lick Independent School District's superintendent, who will be retiring from the district on Dec. 16 after three years. Blain, who has worked in education for more than 39 years, also served as Liberty-Eylau Independent School District superintendent on more than one occasion.
