Jill Harrington to run for Bowie County district clerk

November 14th, 2017 by Gazette Staff in Texarkana News

Jill Harrington is seeking election as Bowie County District Clerk on the Republican ticket.

Harrington was appointed to the office in June following the retirement of long-serving District Clerk Billy Fox. Harrington has worked in the District Clerk's office since 1978.

"I have seen many changes and have been instrumental in bringing our office into the computer age and the digital age. The office has original records from 1890 to present, which we are in the process of digitally archiving," Harrington said.

Harrington, a graduate of New Boston High School, has lived in the county for the majority of her life. She is married to Ricky Harrington, and the couple lives in Texarkana, Texas, where they are members of First Baptist Church Texarkana.

The Harringtons have two grown children who are married and live in Texarkana, Texas, and Palestine, Texas. They have six grandchildren and are expecting a seventh in December.

Harrington said it has been an honor to serve as district clerk since Fox's retirement and that she looks forward to continuing her service to the citizens of Bowie County in the future.
