Downtown wonderland

The Texarkana Downtown Neighborhood Association has invited merchants to show their dazzling display talent with a holiday window decorating contest. Winners will be announced at a later date; the big winner will receive a $1,000 prize from Main Street Texarkana. And at 7 p.m. Dec. 4, the brightly decorated downtown will be the sparkling backdrop for the 33rd annual Main Street Christmas Parade. This year's theme is "Gingerbread Village"; more than 100 lighted entries will make their way through two states. Marching bands, floats and live camels will be part of the fun. Vendors will be open that night for holiday shopping from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Front Street Plaza and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Texarkana, Texas, Farmers Market.
