An event promoting pet vaccination and registration is scheduled for next week in Texarkana, Texas.
Bark in the Park will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at the pavilion near Kylee Sullivan Dog Park in Spring Lake Park.
Free three-year rabies vaccinations will be available for dogs and cats of all area residents, and Texas-side residents can get city pet licenses at no cost.
Other vaccinations will be available for a fee, and microchipping will be available
for $30.
All dogs must be on a leash, and all cats must be in a carrier. A limited number of box carriers will be available.
Local businesses will give away door prizes at the event. Texas-side Animal Control Services will accept monetary donations to help fund future pet-oriented activities.
License fees normally are $10 for pets that have been spayed or neutered and $30 for those that have not. Failure to register a pet can result in a Municipal Court fine.
