Red Lick to honor outgoing school superintendent

RED LICK, Texas-The Red Lick City Council will rehire a Texarkana firm to conduct its municipal audit.

The aldermen agreed during Thursday's meeting to rehire Wilf and Henderson accounting firm to conduct the city's financial audit for the 2016-17 year.

In other business, aldermen agreed to declare Dec. 16, 2017, as Nick Blain Day in honor of the Red Lick Independent School District superintendent who is stepping down after nearly four years. Blain was a long-time superintendent for Liberty-Eylau ISD who came out of retirement in July 2014 to replace Dr. Rose Mary Neshyba, now New Boston ISD's superintendent.

Red Lick ISD has 509 students at both it's elementary school and middle school.

In other business, Red Lick Mayor Pro Tem Bob Akin announced that he will be retiring from the council as of Nov. 9 after 17 years of service with the city.
