From hayrides to pumpkin carving, area sees bounty of fall community events

Old Washington Farmer's Market will hold a free kids' carnival for ages 12 and under from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday in Washington, Ark.

There will be games, a hayride, cake walk, prizes, concessions and more. Come dressed as your favorite characters.

Crater of Diamonds State Park will host the Diamonds in the Fall Festival on Oct. 28 at Arkansas Highway 301, Murfreesboro, Ark.

A Fun Run will be held at 8 a.m. at South Pike County School, and activities will be held all day, including a cake walk, games, bounce houses, live music, costume contests for people and dogs and a Trunk or Treat.

The P.J. Ahern Home will have a Halloween Who-dunit mystery party from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 28 at 403 Laurel St., Texarkana, Ark.

There will be treats available and a pumpkin-carving contest. Contestants must bring their own pumpkins, but carving and decorating supplies will be provided.

Costumes are welcome.

There will be prizes for best costume, best pumpkin and best detective.

Tickets are $15 each, $50 for a family of four and a $5 discount for Texarkana Museums System members.

A Fall Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 in downtown Texarkana.

There will be live music, vendors, food trucks, bounce houses, costume contests, Trunk or Treats, a Thriller flash mob from 3 to 6 p.m. and more.

The community is invited to decorate their trunks for trick-or-treaters, ages toddler through grade school. For safety, all candy must be provided in packages.

Rehearsals for the flash mob will be 6:30 p.m. Mondays at 214 E. Broad St. The rehearsals are not mandatory and all ages are welcome.

Fairview United Methodist Church will host a country store from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at 16th and Laurel St., Texarkana, Ark.

There will be crafts, canned and baked goods, door prizes and a quilt drawing at 2 p.m.
