Anthony Carmeli made dinner plans with his wife on Sept. 11 before walking away from his children's soccer practice. He has not been seen since.

Anthony and his wife, Amy Carmeli, of Texarkana, Ark., took their young sons, ages 4 and 6, to practice together that evening. Amy left for a short time to attend a visitation at a nearby funeral home.

While she was gone, Anthony allegedly asked another parent to watch his boys during practice while he "took care of something." The 42-year-old walked away from the practice field in the 1500 block of Pine Street.

It was about 6:07 p.m. His cellphone was turned off shortly after.

When Amy returned to the soccer field, she believed her husband had simply taken a break so she started driving around the block to pick him up. But she couldn't find him. As the night wore on, she became very concerned.

"It's just not typical behavior for him," she said. "We had made dinner plans for after practice, and we were making plans for our 10th wedding anniversary in October."

Over the next few days, police searched abandoned buildings, fields and wooded areas all over that part of the city, but found nothing. A helicopter using infrared sensors flew along the KCS tracks in hopes of being able to find him from the air. There was no trace.

The Bowie County Search and Rescue Team used horses and dogs to search all along the creek bed that runs through the area.

"At this time, we have followed up on all leads we have, but we will continue to investigate any new leads that come in," said Shawn Vaughn, spokesman for Texakana, Texas, Police Department.

Anthony Carmeli's information has been entered into the National Crime Information Center as a missing person, Vaughn said.

"I never dreamed anything like this would happen to us," Amy said Tuesday.

Anthony was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, cargo shorts, a red Arkansas Razorbacks cap and sandals. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call TTPD at 903-798-3116.

Amy said she is grateful to all the volunteers who have helped.

"I just really appreciate everyone who has helped us look," she said. "The boys miss him, and I miss him."
