All Texarkana Independent School District's schools have received a Met Standard from the Texas Education Association for the 2016-17 school year.
During the district's regular Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday, TISD Superintendent Paul Norton gave a report on the ratings, and said the schools also received a total of 20 distinctions with the accountability ratings.
"This is a direct result of having quality staff teaching outstanding students," he stated in a press release.
The board also approved hiring Anita Clay as the executive director of business operations. She will replace former Chief Financial Officer Deidra Reeves, who resigned after 21 years to work as CFO with Greenville ISD. Clay has 29 years of public schools experience. She worked from 1988 to 2002 as a staff accountant for Wilf & Henderson, then moved to New Boston ISD where she worked as business manager until 2015, when she took the position of controller at Texarkana College.
In other business, the board nominated Trustees Wanda Boyette and Paul Miller to serve two-year terms on the Bowie Central Appraisal District Board of directors. The organization is responsible for setting the assessed value of all property in Bowie county and collecting taxes levied by taxing entities.
