Man accused of shooting at another driver after crash

The Texarkana, Texas, Police Department arrested Gregory Williams, 49, of Texarkana, Ark., on Tuesday afternoon after he fired shots at another vehicle following a crash.

Williams and another driver were involved in a minor vehicle crash at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Summerhill Road and West 13th Street. Williams became upset and fired several shots from a pistol at the other vehicle before driving away, according to police reports.

Officers located both vehicles within minutes of receiving the call.

Williams was found standing behind his Jeep Wrangler in the parking lot of 1801 New Boston Road. Officers reported that as they pulled up, he was attempting to conceal a .380 pistol below a floor mat in the back hatch area of his vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident.

The other driver found a Texarkana Independent School District police officer that had been in the area and told them what had occurred.

Evidence found in Williams' vehicle indicated that he had fired several shots from inside the vehicle, with some striking the interior, according to police reports. Officers noted three bullet holes on the fender and hood of the other vehicle.

Williams was taken to the Bi-State Justice Building jail, where he remains in custody. He is charged with two counts of deadly conduct and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. His bail has been set at $75,000.
