County to test voting equipment

Miller County will test its electronic voting equipment at 10 a.m. today, according to Linda Crawford, elections commission coordinator.

The test-which will check for accuracy in tabulations and overall operation-will be on the first floor of Miller County Courthouse, 400 Laurel St., Texarkana, Ark.

" Miller County election officials have worked the past week testing all 56 Express Voting machines, 14 tabulators and 31 express polls (tablets) and the printers used by the voter to check in on when they vote early or on election day," Crawford said.

"Actual ballot cards will show all of the ballot types and styles and after voting they will be cast into the tabulator. A results tape will then be run to show that each ballot voted was counted. Following the testing process the software (flash drives) are cleared of all testing, and the equipment reset to begin with zero votes of the first day of early voting, which begins on May 7 at the Miller County Courthouse."
