Police probe alleged threat against school

A 17-year-old boy is being investigated for allegedly threatening a shooting at Arkansas High School.

At 11 a.m. Friday, the Texarkana, Ark., Police Department responded to the school at 1600 Jefferson Ave. in reference to a threat report, said Kristi Bennett, TAPD spokeswoman. The school district's security department reported receiving information of a 17-year-old boy who made a recent threat of a school shooting.

TASD security also told police the teen was possibly on campus. The student allegedly made verbal threats and sent threatening messages, Bennett said.

Police immediately began to search for the teen and found him at his home, Bennett said.

The investigation by the TAPD threat intelligence detective is ongoing.
