The Komen Race for the Cure benefiting breast cancer research will take place Oct. 20 in downtown Texarkana this year, according to Ina McDowell, Main Street Texarkana executive director.

"Downtown is going pink this year," she said. Main Street Texarkana was instrumental in promoting the Twin Cities' historic downtown for this year's race.

This event will be the 20th anniversary of the race.

Dine on the Line 2018 is coming Oct. 6. Main Street Texarkana is seeking both sponsors and volunteers for this downtown dining event when the two sides of the city break bread together. For volunteers, anyone is welcome. This event is especially good for high school- and college-age volunteers. Civic groups are also welcome. Go to mainstreettexarkana.org for more information.

The theme for this year's Christmas parade has been set. This year, the parade and decorations downtown will be all about "My Favorite Christmas Memory."

The store and business front decoration contest is expanded this year for door and window displays. The parade takes place 7 p.m. Dec. 3 in downtown Texarkana. Contact Main Street Texarkana for more information.
