Arkansas-side school board to meet today

Texarkana, Ark., School District's Board of Directors will meet at 6 p.m. today to consider a bid for furniture, school improvement plans and two learning support programs.

The bid includes tables, chairs, whiteboard tables and media-space adjustable tables for North Heights.

The board is also considering the school improvement plans as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act. Each campus will develop a school improvement plan for the 2018-19 school year that will then be published on the school's website.

Members will consider the purchase of the Edgenuity program to provide real-time student support. The program has virtual tutors and digital learning libraries and helps pinpoint learning gaps and design learning pathways for explicit instruction.

The Naviance system will also be considered for use by junior high and high school students. The system helps students identify their interests and strengths to help them explore their college and career options.

Directors will also consider raising lunch prices to $3.65.

The meeting will be held at the Administration Building, 3425 Jefferson Ave., Texarkana, Ark.
