LINDEN, Texas —A Cass County, Texas, jury last week acquitted a former Texarkana firefighter accused of indecency with a child.
Jordan Williams, 41, resigned his position with the Texarkana, Texas, Fire Department after the allegations surfaced, Texarkana lawyer Jeff Harrelson said. Williams was arrested in April 2016 while camping in Piney Point campground on Wright Patman Lake in Cass County.
Some of the area's campgrounds are in Bowie County and some in Cass County.
Piney Point is a campground just south of Sulphur River Dam and north of Rocky Point, according to earlier reports.
Williams was initially arrested for public intoxication after campers reported a disturbance. Later the Cass County Sheriff's Office charged Williams with two counts of indecency with a child.
Williams was released on a $75,000 bond shortly after being taken into custody and has been free since.
A jury acquitted Williams of the felony charges last week.
"Mr. Williams, his family, and I are appreciative of the jury who, after reviewing all the evidence, returned the proper verdict," Harrelson said.
