Domtar in Ashdown recently donated $20,000 to the University of Arkansas Cossatot's newest project-the Lockesburg Industrial Maintenance Institute.

Domtar General Manager Bob Grygotis said the investment will benefit Southwest Arkansas, especially students at Ashdown High School, by supporting vocational training in industrial technology.

"Programs such as this are critically important to help prepare students for the future and filling the numerous manufacturing jobs that will be available in this region," Grygotis said.

Steve McJunkins, chair of UA Cossatot's Skilled and Technical Sciences, is grateful for the community partnership.

"Without the support of our business and industry partners, we would be unable to provide the quality training we now provide for our students at both high school and college levels," McJunkins said.

According to McJunkins, the donated funds are used to purchase equipment for developing higher-level skill sets, aiding in increasing the employability of graduates, who receive industry-recognized accreditation.
