Erik Bendl of Louisville, Ky., is walking to educate people about diabetes awareness.
His walking path included Ashdown in Southwest Arkansas on Thursday.
His is a simple message "Love yourself. Go for a walk."
Bendl has walked more than 6,000 miles for diabetes awareness. During the last six years, he has walked in more than 40 states and Washington, D.C. to help the American Diabetes Association and encourage people to get healthy with exercise and diet to control and prevent diabetes.
During his mission through Little River County, he was introduced to Ashdown Mayor James Sutton and was lifted up by a TDS crane service and treated to breakfast.
Bendl was also greeted by Marilyn Pdomsky and Donna Walker with the Arkansas Parks & Tourism center at U.S. Highway 71 near the Red River.
Bendl rolls the "world ball," giving the symbolic message of diabetes as a worldwide illness.
All donations support the American Diabetes Association.
