Park events spotlight Cossatot River habitat

From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, visitors can make bird track candles as reminders of all the birds who call the Cossatot River home for the winter. The meeting place is the visitor's center legacy room.

From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays there will be a two-hour workshop on "Who Eats What?" The workshop will focus on different types of birds and the trees and shrubs they spend time in.

Visitors will make a take-home bird feeder. Admission is $5 per family. The meeting place is the visitor's center amphitheater.

On Sunday, there will be a one-hour "Feed the Critters" event from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Visitors can watch the animals eat and learn about the animals at Cossatot River. The meeting place is the visitor's center.

From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, visitors can learn about types of birds that spend the winter in Arkansas instead of flying south. The meeting place is the visitor's center legacy room.

From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., visitors can learn about the park's evergreens and create a one-of-a-kind wrapping paper featuring some of nature's prettiest patterns.

On Dec. 16, there will be a morning stroll from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the Harris Creek Trail. Visitors are encouraged to carry binoculars.

All activities are free unless otherwise noted and are open to the public.
